The library (message - mission - vision).
The President of the Republic inaugurated the library on Monday, March 21, 1995, in the presence of the President of the German Bundestag, the German Foreign Minister, Mr. Reinhard Mühn, President of the German Bertelsmann Foundation, his wife, Mr. Ambassador Abdel Raouf Al-Ridi, Chairman of the Library’s Board of Directors, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Cairo, and a large number of Dear Ministers and senior public figures.
The library's philosophy is based on the fact that the library is: a message, a vision, and a living reality that interacts with the public, and it is the foundation of the cultural structure in society.
The library aims to encourage individuals of all ages and groups to develop the habit of reading and benefit from the cultural and educational materials available in the library, and to develop and update these materials to meet the desires and needs of its members. It also aims to provide means of self-education for life.
Modern technological and technical developments have led to adding a new goal to the library’s goals, which is to cooperate with cultural and educational community institutions to improve and develop the skills of using computers and the Internet among various segments of society.
The library seeks to expand the circle of beneficiaries of its services in the various regions and neighborhoods of Greater Cairo, by establishing branches in these locations. The first branch of the Egyptian Public Library was established in the Zaytoun neighborhood in Al-Amiriya, northeast of Cairo, and was opened in March 1999. The library established another branch library in the Al-Zawia Al-Hamra area, which was opened in 2014
In view of the distinguished experiences gained by the staff of the Egyptian Public Library in various administrative, technical, and technical fields, and based on disseminating the benefit from these experiences, a call was made to establish regional libraries in all governorates of Egypt that work in the same vein as the main Egyptian Public Library to form a network of modern public libraries in Egypt, so that These libraries will be electronically linked into a single system that will benefit all members of the Egyptian people, provided that the Egyptian Public Library in Giza will provide technical, training, and evaluation consultations to these libraries.
Indeed, a number of libraries have been opened, and with support from the Egyptian Public and Governorate Libraries Fund, preparations are now being made to open a number of these regional libraries in the governorates.
