The Egyptian Public Library building, headquartered in Dokki, is located in a privileged location overlooking the Nile in the Giza area, close to the Cairo University campus, the faculties of applied arts, fine arts, artistic education, kindergartens, the National Research Center, the National Center for Documentation and Information, the Opera House, and a large number of museums and government schools. The library is surrounded by a spacious garden equipped with benches to enjoy outdoor reading.

The Olive Branch Library was opened on March 24, 1999, with the aim of achieving the main library objectives

The adult section occupies the entire area of the first floor and contains the following units:

 

The main entrance to the department: It contains the guidance and assistance office, automated search devices on the direct line (index and beneficiary services), and display of interest groups. The entrance is also used to hold art exhibitions.

The Main Book Hall: It contains the library’s collections of books, references, and government publications. These holdings are arranged on open shelves according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System. The hall includes reading chairs and tables, computers used in electronic points, and listening devices.

· Audio-Visual Materials Unit: It contains the library’s holdings of audio-visual materials, represented by video tapes and cassette tapes, in addition to the devices necessary for listening and viewing. The unit has provided printed subject catalogs to identify these holdings, and the holdings data can also be known using the library’s automated catalogue.
This service is provided free of charge with advance daily reservations - for one and a half hours for video tapes and one hour for cassette tapes - for each user once per day. It is possible to grant the beneficiary other reservation periods in the absence of reservation requests from other beneficiaries.

Multimedia unit (CDs): The library provides a number of computers for use in viewing the library's CD holdings. This service is provided free of charge with a one-hour advance daily reservation for each user once per day. It is possible to grant the beneficiary other reservation periods in the event that there are no reservation requests from other beneficiaries.

· Internet Unit: The library allows beneficiaries to connect to the Internet using a number of good computers connected to the World Wide Web, for a fee of one pound per hour. Internet service is available according to the priority of reservation for one period per day and in accordance with the library policy. It is possible to grant the beneficiary other reservation periods in the absence of reservation requests from other patrons. Periodicals and Cafeteria Unit: In this unit, the library offers a selection of daily newspapers and weekly and monthly magazines of interest to general users in Arabic, English, French and German. In the same place, there is a cafeteria that provides library visitors with drinks and snacks.

The second floor was allocated to the Children and Youth Department, with the exception of a small part that was allocated to the administration offices (the office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the offices of the Library Director, the office of the Director of the Egypt Public Libraries Fund, and the Executive Secretariat for Library and Fund Administration). The books in the Children and Youth Department are arranged in the form of interest groups using a number of thematic approaches. The department includes the following units::

Activities Hall: This hall is used to provide cultural and entertainment activities and artistic workshops for children and young people, such as video shows, puppet theatre, telling a story, unpacking and assembling puzzles, coloring, and handicrafts...etc.

Egypt Public Library, Olive Branch:
opened on March 23, 1999 AD. It is the first branch library of the Egyptian Public Library and is located on Omar Al-Mukhtar Street in Al-Amiriya on an area of 360 square meters surrounded by a garden of about 1,300 square meters.
